One Romanian ate 157 g of chocolate on the average in 2015

A person consumed an average of 157 grams of chocolate, candy, Turkish delight and other sweets, which cost 3.17 lei, according to INS.

The largest consumption was made by employees - 175 grams/month and lowest by unemployed - 106 grams.

As for jam, jelly beans and canned fruit, INS data show that a person consumed 20 grams/month on the average.

According to the institute, a Romanian ate 61 grams of ice cream on the average, last year.

Data from the Ministry of economy show that last year, Romania exported 9,847 tons of chocolate and other products containing cocoa, the total value exceeding 55.3 million euros, on the rise by 21.3% against 2014.

55,005 tons worth 196.2 million euros were imported, creating a commercial deficit of 141 million euros.
