Tourism: Most Romanians prefer to spend their holidays in Romania
Almost two-thirds of Romanians (65%) choose to spend their holidays in Romania, to the detriment of traveling abroad (29%), according to the latest study conducted by Reveal Marketing Research, at the request of Nordis Group, published on Thursday.
According to the research, among those who say they prefer vacations in Romania, 34% opt for stays at the sea, and 31% for those spent in the mountains. Also, 4% of respondents choose spa resorts, while 2% would go to the Danube Delta.
Beach vacations are preferred, to a greater extent, by young people between the ages of 18 and 24 (42%), and mountain vacations are among the top preferences of mature people over 45 (41%).
In the case of vacations abroad, the respondents rather prefer European destinations, especially Greece, Spain and Italy, and over three quarters of those surveyed mention seaside resorts.
The results of the specialized study reveal the fact that, if they had 100,000 euros, most Romanians (46%) would prefer to invest it in a holiday apartment in Romania, to a significantly greater extent mature people, aged between 35 and 44 (53%).
In the top of preferences, investing in a business takes the second place (40%), and traveling takes the third place (24%), being preferred to a significantly greater extent by women compared to men (29% vs 20%).
On the same subject, over half of Romanians (54%) would invest in an apartment by the sea, while 40% would choose an apartment in a mountain resort. Young people up to 34 years old are more attracted to the idea of buying a holiday apartment by the sea (61%), while holiday apartments in the mountains are especially preferred by the over 45-year-old segment.
The Reveal Marketing Research study was conducted online between December 1 and 6, 2022 on a sample of 1,007 respondents from the urban environment. The maximum sampling error is +/-3.1% at a 95% confidence level.
