The first regional energy observatory in Romania was opened by the Alba Local Energy Agency

The Alba Local Energy Agency (ALEA) has opened the first regional energy observatory in Romania under a European project called DATA4ACTION, funded under Intelligent Energy Europe.

ANERGO, as the first energy observatory is called, is designed to support signing municipalities and any municipality wishing to adhere to the convention of mayors who want to reach the 20-20-20 objective - reducing by 20 per cent the greenhouse gas emissions by 2020 and securing 20 per cent of energy consumption from renewable sources - ALEA director Florin Andronescu said on Wednesday. There are currently some 60 local administrations, of which 10 of Alba County, having signed the convention.

The observatory provides, free of charge, technical support and coordination for the drawing up of emission inventories and sustainable energy action plans.

'ANERGO is meant to facilitate access to energy data of local public administrations and provide, upon request, relevant data for the creation of the emission inventories, to any public administration signing a cooperation memorandum with ANERGO. Thanks to the observatory, a digital platform takes over data on the main energy consumption patterns form the partner local public administrations, process them and generate energy reports that are indispensable to sustainable energy planning,' said Andronescu.
