The Oltenia Energy Unit reports growing business by 30% and gross profit of 260 million lei in 5 months

The turnover of the Oltenia Energy Unit grew by approximately 30% in the first five months of this year, against the similar period of last year, and the gross profit was 260 million lei, against losses of 20 million lei during the same period of last year, according to a press release of the company.

In the period  January – May of this year, CE  Oltenia worked with an average of 8 energy groups, covering a quota of up to 30% from the energy market and almost 30% of services of system necessary at national level.

As compared to the first five months of 2016 in the national energy system was necessary to have more coal in the similar period of 2017. Thus, at the level of  CE Oltenia recorded a growth of the coal production by 20% and the quantity of energy produced with 25%. At the same time, the decisions of management implemented led to the drop of production costs by approximately 9% for one MWh and by approximately 13% for the ton of coal. In the first five months of the present year CE Oltenia demonstrated they could be situated among the profitable companies, the results having a growing direction against the similar interval of last year’ the press release says.

According to the quoted source, the investment programme included for the first five moths of this year was observed, with major investment for the rehabilitation of the no.5 energy group in Rovinari and no7 in Turceni, the modernisation of the new storehouse for coal in Rosia which will observe all environment requirements, as well as the modernisation and capital repair of a bulldozer in Lupoaia.

Similarly, the procedure of the implementation of the denoxification installations to three energy groups according to the conformity terms and the necessary documents for the rehabilitation and modernisation of the no3 energy group in Turceni with possibility to be financed from the national plan for investment.

The ministry of energy Toma Petcu stated at the end of last week in Petrosani that this year the quantity of energy produced with coal could surpass the energy production obtained in hydropower stations, as the thermal power stations in CE Oltenia and Hunedoara work at full capacity.

At the end of May, the state secretary in the ministry of energy Doru Visan stated in Targu-Jiu that at the level of CE Oltenia there will not be any layoffs as a result of the ‘ present configuration of the demand in energy’ the company functioning at the level of capacity.
