Anghel (PwC): the fiscal measures adopted during the emergency state do not correspond entirely to the expectations of the business environment

The fiscal measures adopted during the emergency state do not entirely correspond to the expectations of the business environment and certainly there will be necessary other measures, says Daniel Anghel, partner fiscal and judicial services coordinator PwC Romania.

He shows that, in the context, the fiscal measures taken by the authorities are quick solutions required by the speed of the events, but with little impact on what is really necessary.

On the other hand, he reminds, that, over the last years, many authorized voices have warned about the reduced possibilities of the authorities to act in case of crisis, as the pro-cyclic fiscal policy applied over the last period of economic growth has reduced the fiscal area and  limited the intervention means of the government.

Although publicly stated the intention to postpone by one month the lodging of profit tax statements, the emergency ordnance does not include this, and the ministry of finances says, in a press release published on Saturday ‘ all exceptional cases of delay in lodging the statements will be treated openly as included in the law’.
