Barroso and Schulz will come to Bucharest to discuss about the EU funds
The chairman of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso and the president of the European Parliament Martin Schulz will come to Bucharest to discuss with the Romanian authorities about the European Funds, premier Victor Ponta announced, showing that Romania was on the ‘normal way’ after the political crisis in the summer, Mediafax said. ‘We have to see what we do so that they will not be punished for the things that did not go right in 2010 – 2011 as regards the absorption of European Funds and in what way this lack of performance of Romania should not be a criterion for desqualification, or that we should not be told ‘ you had the money, you did not know what to do with it, why you ask for more money in 2014 – 2020’. The negotiation is very tough, it is similar to dividing the budget and every ministry who needs more for his portfolio’ Ponta said when he was in Bratislava.
He mentioned the fact that at the end of November there will take place an extraordinary summit of the heads of government in Europe on the theme of the budget of 2014 – 2020.
Ponta was on Thursday and Friday in Bratislava where he participated in a new reunion of the prime-ministers of the EU states members of the group ‘The Friends of cohesion’ where they discussed, in the presence of the chairmen of the European Commission and the European Parliament, about the community funds.
