Economic relations between Romania and China up to 2.75 bln euros

Imports and exports between Romania and the People's Republic of China amounted to 2.75 billion euros in 2008, stated on Tuesday, in Bistrita (north), China's Ambassador to Romania Liu Zengwen, who is paying a working visit to Bistrita-Nasaud County.According to him, the value of imports to Romania accounts for 90 percent of this amount, and that is why the authorities want to give an impetus to the economic relations between the two countries through the development of new businesses.'As regards the imported products we must reach a consensus, the products must be complementary and not involved in a competition for a single market. We must discuss it, otherwise we risk to spoil everything. Sometime ago, towards the end of the 70s, the commercial exchanges volume reached one billion dollars and it was relatively balanced. Nowadays, the balance is unfavorable to the Romanian side, following a very high demand', said the Chinese Ambassador, quoted by Agerpres correspondent..The Ambassador of the People's Republic of China participated on Tuesday, in Bistrita, to the setting up of the 33rd branch of the Romanian-Chinese Friendship Association in the presence of Bistrita-Nasaud Prefect Cristian Florian, of Deputy County Prefects Ovidiu Frent and Grigore Timoce and of the County Council President Liviu Rusu. The Chinese delegation also had talks with the leadership of Bistrita-Nasaud Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture focused on the development of the bilateral economic relations.
