FinMin Misa: The estimated budget deficit for 2018 is 2.96 pc according to ESA
Minister of Finance Ionut Misa said on Wednesday, at the beginning of the government meeting, that the necessary resources for the 2018 budget structure are in place.
"Mr. Prime Minister, as you know, talks were held today with health trade unions, they referred to bonus figures and the entire debate revolved around healthcare bonuses. Of course there was no mention about money shortage. As I have stated in several instances, I say this once again, the money for the 2018 budget structure is well in place. More than that, the budget projection is already done and it allows us to keep within the 2.96 percent (ESA) deficit cap and the amounts needed under the Wage Law were definitely earmarked too, so we have no issue in terms of financing. There is no issue at either the Finance Ministry or the government regarding a lack of capacity to finance ongoing projects," Ionut Misa said.
The Minister of Finance made these clarifications after Premier Mihai Tudose asked him to present the up-to-date situation of the budget financial resources. "I would ask Mr. Finance Minister to tell us the truth, in connection with circulating rumors that there is no money for pensions, wages, some have started fantasizing again. And maybe you can also tell us two words about the budget construction for 2018," Tudose said.
