The European Commissionaire for public health and food safety Vytenis Andriukaitis starts a visit to Romania
The European Commissionaire Vytenis Andriukaitis responsible with health and food safety will visit Bucharest between 19 – 20 October 2017.
The high European official will meet Mr. Ion-Marcel Ciolacu, vice prime-minister, Florin-Dorel Bodog, minister of health and Petre Daea, minister of agriculture and rural development. He will discuss aspects connected to health and food safety with the representatives of the parliamentary commissions for health, agriculture and European affairs.
The reunited commissions of the Senate and the Deputies’ Chamber for European Affairs, public health and agriculture, forestry and rural development will meet on Thursday in the Parliament Palace with the European Commissionaire for public health and food safety, Vytenis Andriukaitis.
According to a press release of the Senate, the European Commissionaire will be accompanied by Angela Cristea, the head of the Office of The European Commission to Romania and Francisco Reviriego Gordejo – the department for the management of crises in the food domain, animals and plants, the general department for health and food safety of the European Commission.
During the meeting, among the issues under discussion there are: vaccination, African porcine pest, following and tracing tobacco products, anti-microbian resistence (AMR) – including the national plan for action of Romania, neo-nicotinoid, reformulating plans of food/commitments to the reduction of sugar, salt, etc, access to medication, the quoted source says.
Similarly, during the visit, commissionaire Vytenis Andriukaitis will hold a dialogue with the citizens, focused on the support and the EU policies, as well as the debate regarding the future of Europe, and will participate in two important public events: the Health Forum with the main issue the financing of the health system in 2018 and the Annual AGM of the European Trade Unions in the domain of the Raising of Animals and Meat processing.
