President Klaus Iohannis stated on Monday in Brasov asked about the warning of the European Commission regarding the significant imbalance in 2016 against the adjustment target for the medium-term budgetary objective of Romania, that stability, not only economic, but budgetary as well is extremely important and that the government is accountable to avoid economic imbalances.
The European Commission sent, on Monday afternoon a warning with regard to the existence of significant imbalance in 2016 to the adjustment trend for the medium-term budgetary objective of Romania shows a press release published on the site of the EC. Similarly, the representatives of the European institution announced they would ask the council to adopt a recommendation so that Romania take adequate measures with a view to correcting the significant imbalance announced by the EC.
Asked about this situation, president Klaus Iohannis drew the attention that economic stability is crucial.
‘Economic stability is part of the discussion which we had and we are still having with the government. It is important that everybody understands, including the decision-makers, that we do not discuss about political matters, local ones, with short-term interests, but we are talking about a very important approach. Stability, not only economic, budgetary as well is very important. The first draft which contains country recommendations, this is the first paragraph. We are not talking about a political trifle of somebody, of the opposition, of the president or of the bureaucracy in Brussels it is something necessary’ president Klaus Iohannis stated.
The head of state considers that the government is accountable to make projections on the budget for the years to come.
‘The government is accountable to make projections on the budget in the years to come and on the money that is spent, for example for salaries, so that the balance is not affected’ stated president Iohannis.
Similarly, the president commented the statement of the BNR governor who announced that we have a macroeconomic situation as well as big risks.
‘ The better results the economy has, the bigger and more potential the risks are. We have to be aware of these risks and the imbalances of this type which are part of the risks and we should act cautiously. The Romanian economy is in a very good situation at the present moment, and it would be a pity to take it to an imbalance when we have the possibility to have a very good development for many years’ Klaus Iohannis stated in Brasov.
