Aerostar becomes a component supplier for the Patriot missile manufacturer
Raytheon Company has issued a purchase order to Aerostar for work on the Patriot® Air and Missile Defense System. This makes Aerostar a member of Raytheon’s global supply chain and with potential opportunity to export and sell to the 15 other Patriot partner nations that own more than 220 Patriot fire units.
“This purchase order formalizes the beginning of Raytheon’s long-term commitment to Romania,” said Mike Ellison, Raytheon’s country manager for Romania. “We plan to do much more in the future with Romanian industry, because a strong industrial partnership is a critical element of the relationship between Raytheon and the Romanian people.”
Raytheon’s Global Patriot protects against a full range of advanced threats, including aircraft, tactical ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles.
“Aerostar is eager to begin work on Romania’s Patriot,” said Grigore Filip, President and General Director of Aerostar. “Our partnership provides a great opportunity that will begin right away when the very first Romanian units are built.”
The purchase order includes building machined items and mechanical assemblies used for mounting and support of electronics inside the radar shelter. These machined parts will be built up into sub-assemblies in support of the Patriot fleet.
