As many as 509 companies, sole traders in Romania become insolvent in January 2024
There were 509 companies and sole traders (PFA) that became insolvent in January 2024 in Romania, up 16.74% from January 2023, when 436 insolvencies were reported, according to data published on the website of the National Companies Registry Office (ONRC).
Most insolvent companies and sole traders were recorded in Bucharest - 76, down 20.83% from January 2023.
Next in the insolvency ranking were the counties of Cluj, with 53 insolvencies (plus 60.61%), Timis - 51 (plus 104%), Bihor - 42 (plus 13.51%) and Ilfov - 34 (plus 21.43%).
The fewest insolvencies were recorded in the counties of Covasna - 1 (minus 75%), Mehedinti - 2 (minus 66.67%), Harghita - 2 (as against none in January 2023), Gorj - 2 (same as in January 2023), Calarasi - 2 (+100%), while no insolvency was recorded in Salaj County.
By business fields, the highest number of insolvencies was reported in wholesale trade, retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles - 135 (plus 1.5% as against January 2023), construction - 104 (plus 15.56%) and the processing industry - 64 (plus 16.36%).
