Food industry lost another two top factories in 2018: Zaharul Oradea and the dairy factory Dorna
The food and beverages industry in Romania estimated at 55 billion lei (12 billion euro) started 2018 wrongly, by closing down two factories, Zaharul Oradea and the dairy factory Dorna, both top companies in the sector they activate.
‘Romania becomes importer of products from abroad. It is sad that we got here, but in Romania nothing is to be wondered. In order to have more local manufacture there is need for a strategy of development of the food industry to be supported with public policies. We need investments from national or private funds’ Emil Dumitru, the chairman of the National Federation Pro Agro said.
In the first nine months of 2017, the commercial deficit in the sector agro-food gotto 847 million euro, according to the data of the Association for the Promotion of Romanian food.
In the top, the biggest companies in the food and beverages industry of Romania there is no milk, chocolate, deli or bread factory and the first ten companies have foreign capital.
