Ambassador Klemm: no investments were made to bridge urban Romania and rural Romania
The gap between urban Romania and rural Romania exists and no investments were made to bridge it, US Ambassador to Romania Hans G. Klemm told the launching conference of Google's "Digital Workshop" project.
Increasingly more Romanians attending US universities means something. It is not by chance that the second most spoken language in Seattle is Romanian. Getting back to Romania, the statistics show that no investment was made to bridge the gap between urban Romania and rural Romania. I strongly believe, taking into account the potential and the competence in Romania, that investments focused on education and improving the business environment in Romania can ease the life of the young entrepreneurs and these gaps can disappear. Romania's leadership asked me several times to focus our energies on promoting US investment in Romania. That is why I am very proud that Google has invested increasingly more in Romania, the latest initiative being the Digital Workshop. The youth who will have access to this workshop will tell their friends, their acquaintances about it, and the estimated target of 30,000 students who can reap benefits from the workshop can increase, Klemm mentioned.
Google launched on Tuesday the "Digital Workshop" education programme, a project addressing young people and which is aimed at supporting the integration of Romanian companies in the digital economy.
