Ambassador Zupancic : Slovenia is interested in importing foodstuff from Romania
Slovenia is interested in importing foodstuff from Romania, because they are of good quality, said Slovenia’s ambassador to Bucharest, Mihael Zupancic, pointing out that he had tested those products personally.
The diplomat recently met the minister of agriculture Petre Daea and talked about commercial exchanges between Romania and Slovenia, which have been growing lately.
At present, commercial exchanges between Romania and Slovenia are about 700 million euros, but both minister Daea and ambassador Zupancic said things could be improved.
The Slovenian ambassador appreciated the huge potential Romania has in agriculture, Romania’s area being 11 times bigger than that of Slovenia and 70% of it is covered by forests with little ground for agriculture.
During the meeting of the two officials they approached topics concerning the sale of farming land in Romania, the possibility of a double standard of foodstuff sold in western Europe, etc.
Mihael Zupancic said a meeting at minister of agriculture level should be opportune in the near future, in order to continue collaboration in the field to identify new means of improving relations between the two EU member states.
