AMRO Applauds Trump-Iohannis Meeting
According to the statement sent to ACTMedia, the American-Romanian Business Council (AMRO) applauds President Donald J. Trump for meeting with Romanian President Klaus Iohannis on Friday. This first state visit from a European Union head of state during the Trump Administration demonstrates the key importance of the U.S.-Romania relationship.
The bilateral dialogue between the United States and Romania presents important opportunities this year. “The U.S. business community sees significant growth potential in the Romanian market,” said AMRO President Eric Stewart. “And Romania is gearing up for significant updates to its strategic capabilities, particularly in defense, energy, and cyber security.”
Romania had the largest per capita economic growth last year amongst all European Union members. It continues to be forecasted at a promising 4.2% growth rate this year. The top 50 American companies in Romania earn more than $12.5 billion in revenue in the country each year, strongly supporting jobs here in the United States.
To meet its NATO commitment, Romania approved a budget this year increasing defense spending to 2 percent of its Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The major military acquisition program that Romania is now considering presents tremendous opportunities for American technology.
AMRO is confident tomorrow’s meeting will consolidate Romania’s interest in developing strategic business partnerships with American industry. Strong bilateral presidential engagement will mutually benefit both national economies.
