As of April, Romania receveid the participant status in the Development Assistance Committee of OECD
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) on Monday hailed the announcement by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) regarding the acquiring by Romania, as of April, of the participant status in the Development Assistance Committee (DAC) of the organization, shows a press release issued by MAE on Monday.
In recent years, Romania has intensified its efforts to participate in the OECD working formats and to take over the standards, best practices and recommendations of the organization. Currently, Romania is holding the status of participant, associate or invited in 42 OECD structures and has adopted 35 legal instruments of the organization.
"The acceptance of our country as a participant in the DAC is an additional asset to Romania's accession file to the OECD. As a participant in the DAC, Romania will have the opportunity to be actively involved in the debates within this format, including in high level meetings, in key-issues in the field of development cooperation and humanitarian assistance," the MAE stresses.
In the letter accepting the invitation of the OECD for Romania to become a participant in the DAC, Foreign Minister Teodor Melescanu said that Romania would share the experience it has.
"We are glad to contribute to the activity of the DAC by sharing Romania's perspective and experience and taking over from the experience of the members of the Committee as we develop our own development cooperation programs and systems," Melescanu said.
