Bode, in Italy – the first visit as minister of internal affairs

The minister of internal affairs Lucian Bode met, on Friday, during his first visit as minister of internal affairs with his counterpart of Italy, to whom he sent that the situation at the borders of Romania is under control, our country being prepared for the accession to the Schengen Area since 2011.

‘We had a working visit to Italy, where we met Mrs. Luciana Lamorgese, the Italian minister of internal affairs. It is my first visit  as minister of internal affairs and this is not just happening. For me, Italy has a special significance, especially as the most important community of Romanians  live here outside our borders’ said, on Friday night,on Facebook, Lucian Bode.

Bode explained that he discussed about prevention and combat of crime, which constitutes one major objective of the Romanian government. ‘As regards the present  situation of migratory flows towards the European Union, we have assured minister Lamorgese that the situation at the borders of Romania is under control and it is monitored permanently. Romania has demonstrated several times that it has the capacity to saveguard  the foreign borders of the EU. In this sense,we have said that our country has met all commitments and criteria in the Schengen domain since 2011 and continues to keep the way of implementation of the Union legislation at the highest level’ Bode said.
