Cluj IT Cluster set up the first regional cybersecurity HUB in Romania

IT specialists who took part last week in Cluj Innovation Days (CID) decided to set up the first regional cyber security HUB in Romania, under the aegis of Cluj IT Cluster and eDIH4Society.

According to a press release from the organisers, the 12th edition of Cluj Innovation Days (CID), the annual conference organised by the Cluj IT Cluster, took place at the end of last week under the motto "Digital Innovations for a Sustainable and Secure Future".

Attending the event, Adina V?lean, European Commissioner for Transport, underlined that Cluj-Napoca is synonymous with innovation.

The second day of the conference was entirely dedicated to the topic of cybersecurity, and the highlight was the round table where actors in the field decided to set up the first regional cyber security HUB in our country, under the umbrella of Cluj IT Cluster and eDIH4Society.

"This is an innovative and ambitious initiative that intends to align and strengthen important actors in the cyber security sector in the North-West Region. The initiative subscribes to the objectives undertaken by the Centre for Digital Innovation for Society - eDIH4Society, through which Cluj IT and its partners contribute to accelerating digitisation and digital transformation in our region. It is a regional premiere through which we wanted to facilitate an honest conversation about future collaboration between those present, but also other actors, as needed, for the creation of a hub of excellence specialized in this sector of increasing importance in society", said Professor Stelian Brad, President of Cluj IT Cluster.

The participants analysed, in several working groups, different perspectives referring to the main present challenges, also reflecting the main priorities of such an initiative in the domain of cyber security.

"In this year's edition we have launched two major themes which, in our opinion, allow us to build projects and programmes that can generate added value for Romanian society. These are the confluence of digital and sustainability, and cyber security. On both dimensions we have proposed the activation of important initiatives with national impact and which have raised the interest of many important actors. In the next steps we will consolidate these approaches, and in the near future, I hope, we will come up with new good news on the progress on both directions", said Andrei Kelemen, CEO of Cluj IT Cluster.

Cluj Innovation Days has established itself over time as a major event in the Romanian IT industry. This year's conference was funded by EEA Grants / Norway Grants - Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway grants.
