DefMin Dincu, Heritage Foundation's Feulner discuss recent Black Sea security developments

On Thursday, Romania's Defence Minister Vasile Dincu welcomed founding president of The Heritage Foundation, Edwin J. Feulner.

According to a press statement released by the Defence Ministry (MApN), the meeting provided an opportunity for a substantial exchange of views on the security state of play in the Black Sea, with the attendees underscoring NATO's role in strengthening the defence and deterrence posture on the entire Eastern flank and the US bilaterally.

Dincu underscored the major importance of the forthcoming NATO summit in Madrid in June 2022, which will have to define firm and clear NATO stances on the risks and threats facing the alliance, as well as an eloquent expression of the importance of collective defence.

At the same time, a number of connections between the future Strategic Concept of NATO and the Strategic Compass of the European Union were highlighted as fundamental documents whose role should be to strengthen the transatlantic relationship and ensure complementariness between the two organisations.

Dincu appreciated the essential activity of The Heritage Foundation in strengthening the bilateral relationship between Romania and the US, underscoring availability for in-depth co-operation with this prestigious think tank.
