DefMin Dincu: We talk only about humanitarian support for Ukraine, not weapons
The Minister of National Defense, Vasile Dincu, declared on Wednesday in Cluj that, at least for the time being, the support that Romania gives to Ukraine is only humanitarian, not military, with weapons.
"We are not talking about weapons at the moment. As the prime minister said yesterday in a statement, at the moment we are focused on humanitarian aid," Vasile Dincu told a news conference, answering questions from journalists.
He said that the support for Ukraine does not involve MiG aircraft either.
"We have no request in this regard, the MiGs we have are not completely out of use at the moment. We have an investigation at the moment, they have been suspended from flight. They will be, in the worst case, preserved, because at this moment we can cover, with the 22 Eurofigther we have from the foreign forces (...) plus our squadron, all the elements of air security that Romania needs at the moment," Vasile Dincu emphasized.
The Minister of National Defense, Vasile Dincu, the Chargé d'Affaires of Ukraine in Bucharest, Paun Rohovei, visited on Wednesday the integrated support Center for Ukrainian refugees, set up in a hotel in Cluj-Napoca.
