DefMin Tutuianu resigned from office
Minister of National Defence Adrian Tutuianu tendered his resignation and Premier Mihai Tudose accepted it, government sources said.
Adrian Tutuianu announced on Tuesday that he tabled his resignation from the helm of the Ministry of National Defence to Premier Minister Tudose, citing "poor communication" regarding the disbursement of the military pays/wages for the military system overall.
The Defence Minister said on Tuesday that he had a meeting with the head of the government during which the PM blamed him for the way he communicated about the wages and benefits of the military personnel.
Tutuianu assured that there are no financial issues related to the payment of wages in the military system.
Prime Minister Mihai Tudose announced on Tuesday having sent to the Cotroceni presidential palace the proposal for Deputy Premier Marcel Ciolacu to serve as acting Defence Minister after Adrian Tutuianu's resignation from office.
"I accepted his resignation, I spoke with Social Democrat Chairman Dragnea, with President Klaus Iohannis and sent to Cotroceni the papers with the proposition that Mr. Deputy Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu should serve as acting Defence Minister. (...) The papers are underway to Cotroceni. This is my proposal, as discussed with Mr. Chairman Dragnea, because we are still a political government, we are not technocrats. I also informed Mr. President Klaus Iohannis, who is waiting for the documents," Tudose told private broadcaster Romania TV.
The Premier reproached Tutuianu the "present situation". "Money is available for wages, there is money for the Army, the 2 percent of the budget for the Defence Ministry are there, yet we all debate whether or not we have wage money for the military personnel," Tudose said.
According to the head of the government, there are no issues with the wages in any public structure.
A decision on the head of the National Defence Ministry (MApN) will be made in the coalition, Premier Mihai Tudose said on Tuesday, specifying that he had already talked about this with the Social Democratic Party (PSD, main at rule) national leader Liviu Dragnea.
"Firstly we discuss this inside the party, we decide on a proposal. So, from now on it is a political decision. We'll meet at the party, within the alliance, and we shall decide," Tudose told the private broadcaster Romania TV.
The head of the Executive added that "in maximum" 45 days a new Defence minister will be nominated, after Adrian Tutuianu's resignation on Tuesday.
All the ministries have money, Prime Minister Mihai Tudose said on Tuesday, specifying that the budget amendment will be approved by the government within a week and that it will be positive.
"All the ministries have the money. Money is available. We shall have a positive amendment within a week," Tudose told the private broadcaster Romania TV.
Moreover, the gov't head said there is no problem with the salary pay at any state structure.
