Digitization and robotization will bring over 1 million new jobs in Romania until 2030
Digitization and robotization will bring over 1 million new jobs in Romania until 2030, on the background of fundamental changes the economy will go through, according to an analysis by Factory 4.0 Frames, according to which in 10 years' time many of the present jobs will disappear.
The analysis says that in ten years, many of the present jobs will have disappeared, while new jobs focused on creativity and support services will be launched both in the private and public sectors.
In 2030 economy will be connected to technology, to 6G Internet and cloud services. That will mean that employees will have to know ho to use computers, work applications to make various operations using artificial intelligence. Specialists in data analysis, engineers, developers of applications and interface, quality supervisors, most of such jobs are specialized. According to experts, beyond technical jobs, Romanian economy will need, more creative people in ten years.
“2030 will bring in Romania over 1 million jobs in the digital area, whether we speak about those who work in technical fields, associated to developing applications, technology support and development, whether we speak about services and support devoted to the people and companies (public administration included) or about the creative area, where human creation – inventions, culture, sports activities, a.s.o, will be more capitalized than ever before. There are new jobs and work places transformed as a result of implementing digitization both in the private and public sectors,” analysts consider.
In 2016, digital economy represented 6.9% of GDP in Romania, the equivalent of 12 billion euros, over the 6.5% EEC average. On the background of developing economy, businesses in the Romanian technological sector have advanced significantly, from 26 billion lei in 2010 to 52 billion lei in 2019.
In 2020, on the background of the economic crisis generated by pandemic, the over 30,000 Romanian companies involved in technological business could report businesses similar to lasy year but in 2021 the engine of economic growth may accelerate again. The 32.205 companies active in 2019 employed 250,000 employees against 75,156 in 2010.
However, Eurostat data show that Romania is now at the end of the top of digital competence in EU. In 2019, not less than 43% of Romanians aged between 16 and 74 had low digital competence, placing Romania last in EU at that chapter, followed by Bulgaria (38%). At the chapter persons of higher digital abilities data show that only 10% of people had such competences.
“The Romanian school must be reformed. Our children must study subject matters adequate to the times we live in, school must prepare them for reality. The development of digital competence must be at the same level with the Romanian language, with learning foreign languages. Thus, if we continue with this archaic teaching system and with the subjects students have to learn now, we will find out over a few years that Romania's labor force will no longer be competitive and economy will have to suffer. We will lose investments, we will lose at the welfare chapter,” the Factory 4.0 & Frames analysis shows.
“Romania has the chance of increasing economic capacity in a short time, if it focuses on accelerating digitization and the convergence to an economy based on technology,” specialists show.
Digital economy could represent, in 2030, at least 20% of GDP, with a plus of about 50 billion euros to GDP, they say.
