General director for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion within the European Commission Zoltan Kazatsay said on Friday that Romania must invest in right priorities. He claimed during a press conference on European funds that he is positive that 'a mutual good acceptable' solution will be found by Romania and the European Commission.

'We are now in negotiations with the authorities involved and I am fully positive that we are going to find a mutual good acceptable solution. If the European Social Fund is better used everybody will be pleased,' showed the EC representative at the Polytechnics University in Bucharest.Zoltan Kazatsay said that he appreciates Romania's efforts to remedy some issues regarding the European funds.

According to the EC representative, the European Social Fund contributes to the creation of jobs especially in cases when unemployment remains higher than 10 percent. Kazatsay claimed that about 25 percent of young people are unemployed and the average rates of unemployment in the European Union are also 22.5 percent among young people.

The EC official added that 7.5 million young people in Europe are not included in the educational system, neither are they employed nor do they follow training courses.

'The crisis is serious and it will go on in Europe,' warned Kazatsay.

According to him, the European Commission hopes that Romania should make use of the 220 million euros out of the European funds to provide assistance for more than 300,000 young people.
