Eurostat: Spain, Cyprus and Romania, the largest economic growth in EU in quarter 1, 2023

EU economy grew by 1.2%, while that of the euro zone grew by 1.3% in quarter 1, 2023, compared to the same period of 2022, according to data released on Tuesday, while Spain, Cyprus and Romania reported the most significant advance, according to data released Eurostat on Tuesday.

 

Among EU member states for which data for quarter 1, 2023 are available, the most signficant advance was registered by Spain (3.8%), Cyprus (3.4%), Romania (2.8%), Ireland (2.6%) and Portugal (2.5%), drops being recorded in Lithuania (minus 3.6%), Hungary (minus 1.1%), Czechia (minus 0.2%) and Germany (minus 0.1%).

GDP in the US grew by 0.3% in quarter1, 2023, compared to the previous three months and by 1.6% at annual level.

EU economy grew by 0.2% and in EU zone by 0.1%, in quarter 1, 2023, compared to the previous three months, when a decline of 0.1% was recorded in EU and a zero increase in the euro zone.

 

Among EU member states for which data on quarter 1, 2023 are available, the most significant advance compared to the previous e months was recorded in Poland (3.9%), Portugal (1.6%) and Finland (1.1%), drops being recorded in Lithuania (minus 3%), Ireland (minus 2.7%), the Netherlands (minus 0.7%), Austria (minus 0.3%) and Hungary (0.2%).

 

Romania had a 0.1% increase in quarter 1, 2023, compared to the previous three months, when an advance of 1% was recorded.
