ForMin Aurescu requests the activation of Article 4 for the consultation of NATO allies
Romanian Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu announced on Thursday that he had sent Romania's mission to NATO to ask for the activation of Article 4 of the Washington Treaty, which establishes a consultation mechanism among allies, in the context of the conflict in Ukraine.
"Following Russia's aggression against Ukraine, we have asked Romania's Mission to NATO to ask together with other Allies for the activation of Article 4 of the Washington Treaty - which establishes a mechanism for consultation among the Allies - on the impact of the current situation on the security of the Allies," Aurescu wrote on Twitter.
Meanwhile, President Klaus Iohannis summoned the Supreme Council for the Country's Defense (CSAT) and Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca convened, at government level, the task force to managing the situation generated by the Russian military aggression in Ukraine.
