Four military aircraft survey Romanian airspace after Russian attack at border with Ukraine
Four military aircraft surveyed Romanian airspace after, during the night from Monday to Tuesday, the Ministry of National Defence (MApN) radar surveillance systems detected an aerial attack by the Russian Federation on Ukrainian port infrastructure, north of the Chilia Branch of the Danube, in Tulcea County, MApN informs.
According to the quoted source, two Romanian F-16 fighter jets took off from the 86th Air Base Borcea for reconnaissance missions.
At 23:46, an RO-ALERT message was issued for the northern area of Tulcea County, and around 00:20, two German Air Force Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft, stationed at the 57th Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base, were also scrambled.
At 00:50, the air raid alert was called off, and all aircraft returned safely to their respective bases.
No aerial vehicles were detected as having entered Romanian national airspace, the National Defence Ministry also said.
