The first edition of Orizont Sonor, a podcast, radio and sound creation festival, will take place in Constanta between September 19-21, organized by the French Institute in Romania, the event being an innovative project, unprecedented in our country.

"In the year of its centennial, the French Institute in Romania organizes between September 19-21, in Constanta, Orizon Sonor - an innovative interdisciplinary project, unprecedented in Romania, organized in cooperation with Longueur d'Ondes (France) - one of the largest radio and sound festivals in the world, and SEMI SILENT (Romania) - a podcast platform dedicated to sound creation, radio creation and audio recordings", according to a press release from the French Institute in Romania sent on Thursday.

The festival's partners, Longueur d'Ondes (France), one of the biggest radio and sound festivals in the world, expressed their enthusiasm to share their experience in such a project.

"Founded in 2002, Longueur d'Ondes continues to promote, educate and train, while helping to shape the rapidly changing radio and podcast ecosystem. We aim to share our experience gained over two decades and to cooperate with partners in France and abroad who want to support emerging sound creation and develop challenging projects, like the case of Orizont Sonor, an unprecedented initiative that could develop new networks for authors of sound creations and podcasts from Romania and around the Black Sea, and Longueur d'ondes is pleased to take part in it", said the Festival's partners, quoted in the press release.

According to the mentioned source, after a series of three workshops of journalistic podcast, fiction podcast and sound creation that took place throughout the summer in Bucharest, the Orizont Sonor Festival will take place at the 'Ioan N. Roman' County Library in Constanta, where several types of activities will take place.

"The Orizont Sonor Festival connects the west with the east, during three days the Constanta shore of the Black Sea will be the meeting point of a great variety of radio culture and narratives from Europe and beyond, because we will have professionals from Ukraine and Georgia," said Julien Chiappone-Lucchesi, director of the French Institute in Romania, quoted in the press release.

Special radio broadcasts will be aired live from the site, from the festival locations, with free access for the public.

"RFI Romania will welcome the French guests of the festival for a special show Zebra, Radio Constanta will host a show with young students from Constanta, and Black Rhino Radio will host a show about radio music in Romania from the post-1989 era with journalist Paul Breazu and his guests", the press release also mentions.

During the festival, other immersive sound installations will be set up outdoors, and during the listening sessions, the podcasts and sound creations will be subtitled in Romanian and English.

Admission to all events within the festival is free.
