Gov't adopted several decisions to reduce COVID pandemic

Prime Minister Florin Citu announced on Thursday, at the end of the Government's meeting, that the Executive has adopted several decisions that will help reduce the COVID-19 pandemic.

"This week we had several meetings - with the Association of County Councils, with Bucharest's sector mayors and the mayor general. Today we had a meeting with all the religious cults in Romania. (...) Today, in the Government's meeting, we made some decisions which will help in the next period to reduce the pandemic, and these decisions were approved by a Government's decision", Citu declared at Victoria Palace.

The Secretary of State in the Ministry of Interior Raed Arafat announced on Thursday evening that in the localities where the incidence of COVID-19 infection exceeds 4 per thousand, traffic will be allowed on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays until 20:00, and the activity of the economic operators will take place until 18:00.

"Regarding the time interval in which traffic is allowed: where the incidence is over 4 per thousand in the last 14 days, traffic will be allowed on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays until 20:00, and for economic operators, the activity will be allowed until 18:00. This measure no longer applies during the weekend when the incidence falls below 3.5 per thousand", said Raed Arafat, at the Government's headquarters.

The Government has agreed to lift movement restrictions until 2.00 on Saturday of Catholic and Orthodox Easter, Deputy Prime Minister Kelemen Hunor announced on Thursday.

"Today, together with Prime Minister Florin Citu, Secretary of State Raed Arafat and several members of the Government, we had a discussion with representatives of religious denominations in Romania on the epidemiological measures to be implemented for the Easter holidays. We all have agreed to lift the restrictions on Catholic Easter Saturday, ie on the night of April 3 to 4, until 02.00 a.m., and to do the same on the occasion of Orthodox Easter," the UDMR [Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania] leader said in a post on Facebook.

According to him, the measure is an important one for the believers, because they will be able to participate in the Resurrection service.
