Gov't approves quota of 100,000 foreign workers newly admitted to labor market
The Government approved on Friday a quota of 100,000 foreign workers newly admitted to the labor market in 2024.
"A quota of 100,000 foreign workers newly admitted to the labor market in 2024 has been approved. It is a decision taken following consultations with unions and employers and takes into account the evaluation of the number of applications for issuing employment permits from the beginning of the year up to now, but also of the number of jobs declared vacant by employers, especially in the private sector", the Government's spokesman Mihai Constantin said at the Victoria Palace after the Government's meeting.
He added that it is a ceiling similar to the existing one for the current year. 80,375 permits have been issued since the beginning of this year and 9,748 requests are still pending.
"It is a similar number to 2022, it is a figure around 100,000 and for the current year. It is still an increase compared to 2021 when there were almost 50,000 such approved requests", said Constantin.
