Interreg VI-A Romania- Bulgaria approved by European Commission

Interreg VI-A Romania- Bulgaria programme was approved by the European Commission, the Romanian Development Ministry announced. The programme has a budget of over 200 million euros and is devoted to communities from seven Romanian counties and eight Bulgarian districts.

The Development, Public Works and Administration Ministry declared, in a press release, that the Programme had been approved by the European Commission at the end of November.

“Interreg VI-A Romania-Bulgaria has a total budget of 207.45 million euros, devoted to local communities in the 7 counties in southern Romania (Mehedinti, Dolj, Olt, Teleorman, Giurgiu, Calarasi and Constanta) and the 8 districts in the northern part of Bulgaria (Vidin, Vratsa, Montana, Veliko Tarnovo, Pleven, Ruse, Dobrich and Silistra). The programme will finance projects in the field of mobility and connectivity, environment protection and biodiversity, risk prevention and adaptation climate changes, education, tourism and culture,” the press release mentions.

The source mentions that one of the main objectives is developing Route Eurovelo 6, which will contribute to the integrated development of the region by stimulating tourist and cultural activities, the consolidation of local economy and facilitating transportation between Danube localities.
