Japanese State Minister for Foreign Affairs Kiyoto Tsuji on visit to Bucharest
Minister of Foreign Affairs Luminita Odobescu met on Thursday with Japanese State Minister for Foreign Affairs Kiyoto Tsuji, who was on a one-day visit to Bucharest, with the two officials discussing security in the region, the Foreign Affairs Ministry informs in a release. According to the cited source, the dialogue provided a platform for an in-depth exchange of views on regional and international issues of common interest.
During his visit to Romania, the Japanese Minister of State also met with Secretary of State for Global Affairs and Diplomatic Strategies Traian Hristea, who presented our country's position regarding Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine.
Hristea emphasized Romania's constant support for the neighboring state, recently turned strategic partner. The two officials had a substantial exchange of views regarding the security situation in Romania's neighborhood, as well as development outlooks, with the Japanese State Minister expressing appreciation for Romania's role in ensuring regional security and for its intense diplomatic efforts.
"Taking into account Romania's belonging to the community of European and Euro-Atlantic values, the Secretary of State referenced the stance of our country, which is in line with the EU and NATO approach, both as regards the entire Indo-Pacific region and other regional files of interest for both parties. The Japanese Minister of State highlighted Japan's concern for the careful management of the current security challenges, with special attention to the evolution of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, emphasizing the interdependence of the security situations in Europe and the Indo-Pacific," the Romanian Foreign Ministry said.
Kiyoto Tsuji also expressed Japan's increased interest in regional platforms where Romania has an active profile, such as the Three Seas Initiative (3SI).
