Marius Gabriel Lazurca, who was named Romania's ambassador to the Republic of Moldova on March 5, has been recalled from Romania's ambassador to the Holy See and to the Military Sovereign Order of Malta by a decree signed by President Traian Basescu on Friday.
Lazurca presented the copy of his credentials to the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration on March 29.Lazurca was born in 1971 in the western Timisoara city; he received a PhD in history-anthropology at the University of Paris IV - Sorbonne, and he received a diploma in comparative literature at the same institution. He also has a master's degree in history-anthropology at the University of Paris IV - Sorbonne. He graduated from the University of Timisoara in 1996, where he received a diploma in French language and literature and Romanian language and literature.
According to Agerpres, Romania and the neighbouring Republic of Moldova had not had ambassadors in the two states' capitals since April 2009.
The Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration had declared Romanian ambassador to Chisinau Filip Teodorescu and minister-councillor at the Romanian Embassy Gabriel Gaborean persona not grata. Romania then designated Mihnea Constantinescu as ambassador, but he failed to get Chisinau's approval during the then-rule of the Communists Party.
