Meeting today between premier Ludovic Orban and the representatives of the energy company PKN Orlen
Premier Ludovic Orban has on his Thursday agenda a meeting with the representatives of the energy company PKN Orlen. It is the biggest Polish company and one of the most important in the domain of oil in Europe. The meeting will be also attended by the minister of economy Virgil Popescu.
The reason for the meeting was not revealed but it could be about a possible interest on the part of the Polish company in Romanian investment projects in the domain of energy. PKN Orlen intends to merge with the national company for natural gas in Poland PGNiG, approval being required from the European Commission in summer.
The PGNiG company together with OMV Petrom and Romgaz manifested their interest in the Exxon stake in the Black Sea.
PKN Orlen is in a process of acquisitions, intending to create a strong global energy group.Moreover,this year they have taken over the electricity distributor Energa,with the intention to purchase and acquire the Lotos company as well.
