Minister Borc: It is a period when we build more than ever a very close relationship with Germany

Cooperation within the EU Strategy for Danube Area in projects of dual education were among the topics analysed at the works of the 8th session of the Joint Romania-Baden-Wurttemberg Government Commission, held at Karlsruhe (Germany) over July 14-15, 2016.

“It is a period of time when we build a very close relationship with Germany and topics on the agenda of this commission, from cooperation within the EU Strategy for the Danube area, to projects of dual education are topics interesting both parties. I am sure we can make important steps to develop joint projects as Romania is firmly convinced to go forward, closely cooperating with Germany and Baden-Wurttemberg land,”said deputy premier Borc, quoted in a press release of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Relations with the Business Environment.

The Romanian minister also said that a commercial attache office would soon open in Stuttgart, to encourage Romania’s commercial relations with foreign partners.

Works of 8th session of the joint government commission were chaired by Costin Borc and Theresa Schopper, secretary of state in the state ministry of Baden-Wurttemberg land. Conclusions and projects identified by experts were included in a Protocol signed by the two chairpersons.

Germany is Romania’s main commercial partners, with a share of 19.79% of overall commercial exchanges of Romania with European countries. According to statistic Romanian data, on December 31, 2012, bilateral commercial exchanges reached 23.26 billion euros (+9.13 against 2014), of which 10.78 billion euros from exports (+6.77%) and 12.48 billion euros from imports (+11.27%).

Germany ranks first among Romania’s commercial partners and third for the invested capital.

The volume of commercial exchanges between Romania and Baden-Wurttemberg land reached 4.34 billion euros at the end of 2015, Romanian exports recording a 2.41% increase against 2014 (from 2.18 billion euros to 2.23 billion euros).
