Minister Popescu: We are interested to import liquefied natural gas from Israel via Egypt
Romania is interested to import LNG (liquefied natural gas) from Israel via Egypt, to put to value all opportunities for the consolidation of our own energy security, according to the minister of energy, Virgil Popescu.
‘The strengthening of the bilateral relations between Romania and Israel, especially in the domain of energy, is an important objective to meet. These days, together with Cosmin Ghita – CEO SNN, Bogdan Badea – CEO Hidroelectrica, Aristotel Jude – CEO Romgaz and Razvan Popescu – CFO Romgaz we are paying a visit to Israel. We aim at cooperation on a large scale in the energy sector: gas, electricity, RES and other technologies.This morning we had a very good dialogue with the representatives of the company NewMed Energy, the company of the Delek group, which exploits the biggest offshore gas deposit in Israel. We told them that we are interested in the various sources of supply and we can import LNG from Israel via Egypt. We have to put to value all opportunities to strengthen the energy security of Romania’ wrote, on Monday on Facebook the minister of energy.
