Non-governmental loan balance increases by 1pct in August
The balance of non-governmental loans granted by credit institutions increased in August 2024 by 1.0% compared to July 2024 (0.7% in real terms), up to the level of 407.893 billion RON, according to the data of the National Bank of Romania, published on Tuesday.
Loans in RON, with a weight of 69.7% in the total volume of non-governmental loans, increased by 1.3%, and foreign currency credit expressed in RON, with a weight of 30.3% in the total volume of non-governmental credit, increased by 0.3% (similar evolution in the case of expressing the indicator in euros).
Compared to the same period of 2023, non-governmental credit registered an increase of 7.7% (2.5% in real terms), due to the 10.0% increase in the component in RON (4.7% in real terms) and with 2.7% of the foreign currency component expressed in RON (2.0% in the case of expressing the indicator in euros).
The balance of government loans granted by credit institutions increased in August 2024 by 1.3% compared to July 2024, up to 220.307 billion RON. Compared to August 2023, it increased by 20.7% (14.8% in real terms).
The monetary mass in a broad sense (M3) recorded a balance of 693.601 billion RON at the end of August 2024. This increased by 0.8% (0.6% in real terms) compared to July 2024, and compared to August 2023 it increased by 10.8% (5.4% in real terms).
