Over 700 troops, 13 ships, 9 aircraft to be deployed at Black Sea for Poseidon 21 exercise
The Romanian Naval Forces (FNR) organizes between February 26 and March 6 the field application "Poseidon 21," the first multinational exercise in 2021, held in the Black Sea, with the participation of over 700 Romanian and foreign military staff, who will use 13 military ships, nine aircraft, a pyrotechnic intervention vehicle and a remote-controlled underwater robot, informs a press release sent on Tuesday by the General Staff of the Naval Forces (SMFN).
According to the quoted source, "Poseidon 21" is included in the NATO Program of Combined Joint Enhanced Training (CJET), a complex concept, intended for the training of Allied forces, which was proposed by Romania at the NATO Summit in Warsaw, in 2016, to strengthen security measures on the south-eastern European flank, as well as to ensure a continued presence in the Black Sea region.
"The opening of the multinational exercise" Poseidon 21" is planned for Saturday, February 27, at the Passenger Terminal in the Port of Constanta, with the Constanta Fleet Command to lead the planned training activities at sea, on land and in the air, in which forces from Bulgaria, France, Greece, Romania, Spain, the United States of America and Turkey are integrated," the SMFN informs.
