Partnership Pro Optica, Romarm and IOR for manufacture of remote controlled turrets

The National Company Romarm, Pro Optica company and Romanian Optic Enterprise singed a collaboration  accord on the manufacture of remote controlled turrets of 7.62 and 12.7 mm calibers at Moreni Automechanical Works, according to a press release of the Ministry of Economy.

The accord was signed taking into account the essential interest for Romania's security to have on the national territory manufacture and maintenance production capabilities vital for the development, manufacture and maintenance of the operational state of defense systems, the source mentioned.

The products, which have been successful for export, were developed,  homologated with the Defense Ministry and manufactured by Pro Optica, a company interested in externalizing the manufacture, will be made by Moreni Works, a company from the national defense industry, which has resources needed to manufacture the product and increase added value in projects and armored vehicle programs. Remote controlled turrets will be included in the manufacture portfolio of Moreni Works.

Based on this accord, IOR will manufacture components, sub-assemblies and assemblies from the sensor block and the operator work station.

The result of collaboration will serve opportunities already existing in the foreign and domestic markets, for which maintenance will be ensured in Romania.

“I agree with this collaboration, which is very good for Moreni Works and for the entire national defense industry. It is a good example of honest collaboration between state and private  economic operators which understand there are many economic benefits in close collaboration rather than in hard competition, so that Romanian economy and Romania's security will have to gain. I know that both Moreni Works and IOR have capacities able to complete this project which will allow us to diversify the product portfolio offered by state companies from the defense industry,” said Niculae Badalau, the defense minister.
