PM Ciuca meets with Senator Steve Daines; talks on security situation following conflict in Ukraine
Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca received the delegation of the American senator Steve Daines at the Victoria Palace on Thursday, with the two officials addressing issues related to the security situation in the region, as a result of the Russian military aggression in Ukraine.
According to a Government's release, the prime minister presented our country's efforts to be with the Ukrainian people, with a focus on managing the flow of refugees and the humanitarian hub in Suceava, which integrates support from the European Union and other states.
"The Government is continuing to facilitate Ukrainian exports affected by the blocking of ports at the Black Sea, in order to protect supply chains and ensure food security for countries dependent on agricultural products in Ukraine," the release said.
At the same time, Prime Minister Ciuca underlined the excellent level of the Romanian-American relations, consolidated by the Strategic Partnership, especially from a military perspective. The importance of US troops in the region and the need to increase their presence on NATO's Eastern Flank, especially in our country, were emphasized.
The Prime Minister also mentioned the openness to new American investments, which can help Romania's development and strengthen our transatlantic ties.
According to the quoted source, recently returned from Ukraine, Senator Steve Daines evoked the shocking images he saw in Bucha and in the villages around Kyiv, being the first American official to arrive in the area after the committing of war crimes.
"The American senator was interested in the support that the United States of America can give to Romania from a military, energy and technology transfer perspective," the release said.
