The premier of the Republic of Moldova Pavel Filip announced that he rejected the action of president Igor Dodon to bring back the ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Bucharest Mihai Gribincea, informs Radio Chisinau and Deschide.md.

In a press release broadcast by the press service of the government is said that ‘ the prime-minister Pavel Filip received on Monday 16 January the presidential action regarding the proposal to bring back the extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Romania, Mihai Gribincea’nd ‘ the head of the government will not act on this request’.

The president of the Republic of Moldova Igor Dodon required the government to initiate the procedure of suspension from the position of the ambassador of the republic to Romania, Mihai Gribincea, informs on Monday Radio Chisinau and Deschide.md.

The decision comes after Mihai Gribincea stated in a show that the decree of Igor Dodon regarding the withdrawal of the citizenship of Traian Basescu might be considered non-constitutional.

In the announcement posted on Facebook, the spokesperson of the head of state Ion Ceban states that the statements made by the diplomat Gribincea in the respective show are contrary to the national interests of the Republic of Moldova.

‘We repeat the fact that no representative of the diplomatic missions of the Republic of Moldova has the competence to express his opinion regarding the legality of the documents issued by the president, taking into consideration the fact that the granting and the withdrawal of the citizenship is of the exclusive competence of the president of the Republic of Moldova’ Ceban said.

Ambassador Mihai Gribincea stated in a show at Digi24 one week ago, that the dispute about the Moldovian citizenship of the former president of Romania Traian Basescu cannot shake the ensemble of the bilateral relations between Romania and the Republic of Moldova. Gribincea stated that experts in the domain say that the chances that this decree may be considered non-constitutional are very big.

‘We have some political relations, but at the level of society they are very intense, which I think cannot be influenced by this decree’ stated Mihai Gribincea in the show at Digi24 with reference to the decree of Dodon regarding the withdrawal of the Moldavian citizenship of Traian Basescu. ‘ Moreover, as you have mentioned, one of the MPs in the Republic of Moldova announced the Constitutional Court with regard to this decree of withdrawal of citizenship. I don’t want to anticipate the result, but experts in the domain say that chances that this decree may be considered non-constitutional are very big’ stated the ambassador Mihai Gribincea on the show.

The very next day after the show,Dodon announced that he would require the bringing back of Mihai Gribincea from the position.
