President Iohannis had a telephone conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky
President Klaus Iohannis announces that he had a telephone conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky, whom he assured of Romania's full support, both bilaterally and within the European Union.
"I just had a phone call with President Zelensky. I assured him of Romania's full support for Ukraine, both bilaterally and in the European Union. The humanitarian hub in Suceava has already begun to send the first aid. We will take care of all the Ukrainian citizens who arrive in Romania," Iohannis wrote on Twitter on Sunday.
The humanitarian hub in northeastern Suceava to support Ukrainian citizens became operational as of Wednesday. In this context, Janez Lenarcic, European Commissioner for Crisis Management, Fabrizio Curcio, head of the Department of Civil Protection, structure within the Presidency of the Italian Council of Ministers and Secretary of State Raed Arafat, head of the Department for Emergency Situations were present in Suceava on Wednesday evening.
"This hub has an extremely important role to facilitate the transfer of humanitarian donations from the Member States (of the European Union - n.r.) and from other states (...) and large organizations (...). The coordination will be done by the European Coordination Centre (...) and all the countries or organisations that want to make such donations, even if they are addressed to us directly, we will register them in this hub, so that all the member countries are aware of what donations are offered and the complementary donations between the European countries," Arafat explained.
