Prince Charles welcomed by President Iohannis

The Crown Prince was welcomed by State Secretary with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs George Ciamba, by the Romanian Ambassador in London, Dan Mihalache, but also the British Ambassador to Romania, Paul Brummell. Prince Charles went to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Carol Park in Bucharest to lay a wreath.The wreath-laying ceremony was the first event in Prince Charles's three-day official visit to Romania. After this ceremony, Prince Charles was welcomed on Wednesday at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace by President Klaus Iohannis.
"Good day, Your Excellency! Welcome back to Romania!", President Iohannis told the Prince of Wales.
Romania's President Klaus Iohannis and Prince Charles discussed on Wednesday during the talks carried out at the Cotronceni Palace about the development and strengthening of the Strategic Partnership relation between Romania and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, as well as about the wide charitable activity His Royal Highness Prince of Wales conducts in Romania.
According to a Presidential Administration release, President Klaus Iohannis reiterated, on his and Romania's behalf, condolences to the victims' families and soon recovery to those injured in the recent attack in London.
"In turn, His Royal Highness Prince of Wales voiced his regrets over the injuring of the two Romanian nationals in the attack, and voiced hope that their medical state, particularly that of the Romanian citizen more seriously affected, will improve as soon as possible," the release points out.
At the same time, the two speakers highlighted the very good level of the Strategic Partnership between the two countries, based on a strengthened cooperation in the security area and on the significant economic ties.
"His Royal Highness Prince of Wales appreciated that both states share common interests and goals, which define the special bilateral relation between the two countries," the release shows.
During the talks, the Romanian head of state also stressed the importance of the significant Romanian community living and working in the UK and the role of binding agent of the bilateral relation this community represents.
Moreover, President Iohannis hailed the devotion and involvement of His Royal Highness Prince of Wales in charitable activities in Romania, "a work carried out over almost 20 years, an involvement that has generated a true change of attitude in our country in respect to the care for our material and immaterial heritage," according to the Presidential Administration.
"In context, he highlighted the activity of the Charitable Foundation of Romania of His Royal Highness Prince of Wales, which was launched in 2015 and which promotes projects mainly in the area of preserving the architectural heritage, responsible economic development and sustainable development," the Presidential Administration also points out.
The Romanian head of state also saluted the special contribution of Prince Charles to promoting Romania's image in the world.
On Wednesday, during the reception at the Cotroceni Palace, in sign of high appreciation for the contribution of the Prince of Wales to the development of the bilateral relation between Romania and the UK, for the charitable activity carried out in Romania and for the contribution to the promotion of Romania's image in the world, President Klaus Iohannis bestowed upon His Royal Highness Prince of Wales the National Order of the Star of Romania, in Grand Cross rank.
Their Royal Highnesses Crown Princess Margareta of Romania and Prince Radu of Romania welcomed on Thursday at 18:00 hrs, at the Elisabeta Palace, the His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, the Press Office of His Majesty Michael I informs.The Prince of Wales has visited the Elisabeta Palace in 2011 and 2016, the release informs.

The Prince of Wales is present since 1997 almost every year in our country, and the Royal Family of Romania annually pays public or royal visits to the UK.
Part of his visit, Prince Charles is scheduled to meet Prime Minster Sorin Grindeanu at the Victoria Palace.
Prince Charles arrived in Bucharest Wednesday at the start of a nine-day tour to Romania, Italy and Austria seen as an effort to reassure European Union nations that Britain remains a close ally despite its decision to quit the bloc.
Charles' website said his tour would "highlight the U.K.'s relationship with European partners in areas including social cohesion, military ties and combatting human trafficking."
He leaves Romania on Friday and will then travel to Italy on a tour that is seen as a European charm offensive to cement ties and promote military ties and combat human trafficking.
Charles' wife, Camilla, is expected to accompany him to Italy and Austria.
