Rate of non-performing loans down to 2.33%, in December 2023

The rate of non-performing loans, at the end of December 2023, was 2.33%, compared to 2.61% in September 2023 and 2.65% in December 2022, according to data centralized by the National Bank of Romania (BNR).

As many as 32 credit institutions existed in Romania in December 2023, eight of which were branches of foreign banks. Total assets amounted to 803.4 billion RON, 102.4 billion RON higher compared to the same period of the previous year.

The assets of institutions with private capital represented 86.3% of total assets, and the assets of institutions with foreign capital represented 65.6%.

Also, the solvency indicator was, in December 2023, 22.51%, compared to 23.4% at the end of December 2022.
