Report: People from Bucharest, Cluj and Timisoara are best paid employees in Romania
An average salary in Bucharest is 2,723 lei/month, the highest at national level, 36% higher than in Gorj, the county with the lowest average salary in Romania (2,006 lei), according to data published by Paylab.ro on Wednesday. Next to Bucharesters, people from Cluj and Timisoara are the best paid employees in Romania, according to the report.
The salary remains in 2018 the main criterium according to which Romanians choose their career, employer and the town in which they want to live and work. The salary average at national level grows proportionally with the number of employees existing in every town, with the industry they are party of.
“Average incomes of Bucharest employees exceed by 100 lei/month, the average net salary in economy, which was 2,688 lei at the end of September, according to INS data.”
People from Cluj are in the top of best paid employees in Romania, receiving 2,664 lei on the average monthly. People from Timis follow with average incomes of 2,656 lei.
Smaller counties from the west and center save similar salary levels, close to that of larger counties. In Alba, the average salary is 2,591 lei per month, in Harghita it is 2,539 lei and in Brasov and Sibiu it is 2,513 lei.
Bogdan Badea, the general director of eJobs Romania, said it was no surprise that in Bucharest, Cluj and Timisoara there are the highest salaries in Romania.
The biggest local and multinational companies carry out their activity there, they are all important university centres and the number of candidates is huge. However, counties like Harghita or Alba could outrun areas which apparently, have bigger potential, like Iasi or Constanta, Badea declared.
According to Paylab.ro, the average salary for Iasi is 2,394 lei and for Constanta it is 2,203 lei.
At the opposite pole of counties with the lowest salaries in the country we find Gorj with 2,006 lei.
Employees from Vrancea are the next worst paid in Romania, with monthly incomes of 2,031 lei, followed by those from Mehedinti and Buzau- 2,093 and 2,094 lei. The top of counties with lowest salaries also includes Vaslui and Calarasi, with 2,100 lei.
At industry level, the highest salaries are offered in IT and telecommunications or insurance and pension funds. At the other end there are industries like HoReCa, textile industry or food industry.
