Romania allocated 240 million euro for assistance for development in 2016;the Republic of Moldova –the main beneficiary
Romania allocated in 2016 a budget of 240 million euro for assistance for development,the Republic of Moldova being the main beneficiary of the funds offered by our country – shows ‘ The national report regarding official assistance for development offered by Romania in 2016’ made public by the ministry of foreign affairs (MAE).
Thus, the total national budget destined to assistance for development, reported by Romania in 2016 was of 240 million euro, representing 0.14% of the GDP. Multilateral contributions represent 59% of the funds offered by Romania at national level,and the bilateral ones – 41%.
The sectors which benefitted most by financing were: democracy and good governing (63%) education (26%) and humanitarian assistance (9%) says MAE in a press release on Wednesday.
The main beneficiary for bilateral assistance on the part of Romania was the Republic of Moldova (86% of the funds). Romania offered assistance to other states as well:Serbia, Ukraine, Georgia,Syria, Turkey (Syrian refugees), Iraq and some African and Central Asian countries. As a total, 80 states benefitted from assistance on the part of Romania, especially under the form of study scholarships, the report says.
The document made public is the fifth national report which analyses the policy of international cooperation for the development of Romania, with the purpose of strengthening the degree of transparency and the level of information with regards to the reported contributions.
