Romania is on excess in the commerce with food with the UK
The UK was last year 19th in the ranking of the states where from Romania imports food and 15th on the part of exports, according to the data of the ministry of agriculture and rural development (MADR).
In 2015, the value of imports from the UK was 61.7 million euro, while the exports were twice bigger, 127.37 million euro respectively. Under these conditions, Romania has an excess of 65.66 million euro in the commerce with food with the UK.
The trend was similar in 2014, when the imports reached a value of 63.33 million euro and the exports the value of 107.61 million euro
According to the MADR data, in the top 3 exported products to the UK is meat and fresh or refrigerated organs – 11.379 tons and 35.8 million euro, cigars 928 tons (14.43 million euro) and meat produce and tinned meat – 4,245 tons (12.18 million euro). Wheat and meslin as well as other food produce are on the list of exported products in 2015, by Romania to the UK for which they got almost 21 million euro.
As regards imports unsaturated alcohol was first with 2,907 tons, 19.52 million euro, being followed by cane sugar or beet sugar with 26.300 tons (7.17 million euro) and food produce – 542 tons (4.34 million euro).
The data of the ministry of economy shows that the UK was the fifth destination for exports for Romania, in the first quarter of this year, the total volume being 649.9 million euro, up by 15.3% as compared to the same period of the previous year, the data of the ministry of economy says.
As regards imports, it was 386.1 million euro, up by 5.72%. Thus, Romania has a commercial deficit with the UK of over 263 million euro, up by 18.5% as compared to the first quarter of 2015.
On 30 April, in Romania there were 5.251 companies with British capital, the total value of the social capital being over 1.01. billion euro, the UK being the 10th according to the data of the National Office of the Commerce Register (ONRC).
