Siret border customs office, modernised under over ten million euro project
The Siret border customs office, the largest communication point with Ukraine, has received funds worth more than 10 million euros for rehabilitation within the Large Infrastructure Operational Programme, co-financed by the European Union, informs the Romanian Customs Authority.
President of the Romanian Customs Authority Ion Cupa participated on Saturday, 16 December 2023, together with the project implementation team, in the event marked by the completion of the project "Modernisation of the Siret border customs office, in order to facilitate traffic flow at the transnational crossing point on the northern border of Romania - DN2 (E85), Suceava county."
"This project is in line with the strategic objectives of Romania's General Transport Master Plan and contributes to achieving the objectives set out in the Europe 2020 strategy for sustainable growth. And the most important aspect is that, through the interventions carried out at this customs office, waiting times are expected to decrease by at least 25%," stressed the president of the Romanian Customs Authority.
According to Romania's General Transport Master Plan, the Siret border crossing point is among the 10 most important border crossing points in Romania, being a key strategic point of Romania's border and consequently of the European Union.
