SIS cooperation : Romanian police officers executed 16 European arrest warrants
Between 25 and 31 August, Romanian police officers and their partners on the territory of Schengen Member States detected 832 persons, 12 vehicles and 47 documents for which alerts had been entered in the Schengen Information System (SIS).
According to a press release issued by the Romanian Police, 631 persons have been located on the territory of our country who are the subject of SIS alerts, following the supplementary exchange of information through the SIRENE Bureau of the International Police Cooperation Centre - General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police.
"Romanian police officers have executed 16 European arrest warrants, 99 persons reported by Member States as having been refused entry or stay in Schengen territory were detected, 249 persons were wanted for participation in a judicial procedure and 15 persons were reported missing by partners from Schengen States. In addition, 33 documents were seized from Romanian territory and 11 vehicles were found, wanted by Schengen partners to be confiscated or used as evidence in judicial proceedings," the source said.
At the same time, 201 persons wanted by the Romanian authorities were identified by foreign partners on their territory, following the exchange of information through the SIRENE Bureau of the International Police Cooperation Centre - General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police.
Of these, 20 were wanted by the Romanian police on the basis of European arrest warrants, 22 were reported by Member States as having been refused entry or stay in Schengen territory, another 15 were wanted for participation in a judicial procedure and 4 were reported missing by the Romanian authorities, the press release said.
The foreign partners discovered 14 documents and one vehicle on their territory wanted by the Romanian authorities for seizure or use as evidence in criminal proceedings.
