Speaker Orban: Deputies’ chamber priorities in this parliamentary session

The speaker of the Deputies’ chamber Ludovic Orban has announced that among the legislative priorities of this parliamentary session are the improvement of the legislation regarding pensions and salaries in the public sector, acquisitions, and the correction of justice laws. He added that any legislative amendments proposed by PSD in the domain of justice and the drafts affecting the implemention of the programme of the governing coalition will be rejected.

He also said that the emergency ordnances issued by the executive he had led will be adopted as they were approved by the government. Similarly, legislative provisions  will be harmonised with the decisions of the Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR)

‘Another priority we have established is that of the harmonisation of the constitution with all legislative provisions adopted by the former parliament and which were considered non-constitutional. It is about tens of drafts which contain provisions which were declared non-constitutional and which need an adaptation and harmonisation with the constitutional provisions’ Orban said.

The PNL leader added that the law drafts regarding the state budget 2021 are priority.

The head of the deputies’ chamber said that in the domain of justice the legislation will observe the recommendations of the Commission of Venice, those from MCV and those of GRECO.

„ ‘We take into consideration significant legislative improvements in the domain of pensions, in the domain of salaries in the public sector. Similarly, we have  as priority the adoption of the legislative package regarding the national security. In this domain, an improvement of the legislation is necessary, the adoption of the legislation which is in agreement with all practices and requirements in the domain of activity’ Orban said.

He also spoke about the improvement in the domain of public acquisitions, so that no tenders be delayed, fact which could affect the development of financial projects on European funds.
